Thalassa, Goa – Review — Ratings 8/10

On the 19th day of July, 2018, we planned a visit to this very popular restaurant in Vagator, North Goa. Before I post my further observations, here are few recommendations:

  • We had booked a scooter, so there is never a problem about how to leave late or how to book a cab.
  • The GPS works well and takes you exactly to where Thalassa is located.
  • If you are traveling with family for dinner, I recommend a car, not a scooter or bike as the location is isolated.
  • Always make a prior reservation before visiting Thalassa, else you will end up sitting at a seat very far from the classical view or maybe you won’t sit at all due to place being full.
  • Greek plate smashing dance‘ happens only on weekends evenings (including Fridays). It happens everyday in certain peak season months as well. You can watch one of these videos (not uploaded by me) by clicking here.
  • From May – October, the main view will be covered with a transparent screen. Yet the view is good.

Here are my observations:

  • We had booked a seat 3 days in advance and when we arrived, we were warmly welcomed.
  • We was accommodated on a seat with the best view of the ocean. I must say, Vagator has some serious rough sea.
  • I would’t say that the restaurant sitting area is very clean, however, it gives you a very Greek style or a typical ocean shack feeling, so you won’t bother the hygiene.
  • As we were accompanied with a baby, without even asking, a baby chair was placed next to our seats.
  • We ordered fries for baby, a pizza and lamb kebab for us along with few beverages including one from the choice of available wines.
  • I must say that the wine menu is fantastic.
  • Food menu is alright, not bad.
  • I have one doubt, whether lamb is readily available in Goa. I think it could be a goat, nevertheless, I give it a benefit of doubt and assume we had lamb only. Not sure though!
  • Service was quick and food was decent.
  • They have a pretty good grilling station in their kitchen, to which Thalassa manager was very kind to show it from inside.

Final thought!

  • Food was alright, not extraordinary, neither dull. However, the choice given is sufficient to select with a happy heart.
  • The view was very good and very airy. You feel fresh sitting munching on your food.
  • Eventhough we went during a non season, the view was covered, yet everything was visible as you can see below.
  • There are no more rooms available, as they use the rooms now for storage purpose.
  • If you are visiting North Goa, make sure you visit Thalassa (at-least once in your life).

Hope you enjoyed reading this!
